The environmental benefits of organic food; is perhaps one of the biggest factor why a lot of people are lured into eating healthy. More and more people are now very critical on how their food is prepared and where the actual produce are coming from; countless individuals are jumping into the bandwagon of living healthy, realizing that it is about time that each and every one of us do his or her own share of making the planet a better place to live in.

Environmental Benefit of Organic Food

The world is confronted by many issues; from poverty to drought; from diseases to just plain lack of value to one’s well-being. Presently, focus is much given not only to human health but the planet’s condition as well. A huge amount of attention – for this matter- is given to how people eat and how food is produced; and this very shift in the way people think about the subject, gave birth to organic foods.

While it has been established that consuming organic foods is really very beneficial to man; an equal emphasis is given to the environmental benefits of organic food.

Focusing on Environmental Benefits of Organic Food

Helping the planet to heal itself would require a lot of dedication simply because there are multiple areas that need attention. There is the issue of pollution in both water and in the air; animal welfare; biodiversity and the mutation of potentially harmful organisms that cause diseases just to name a few. Putting everything back to its balance is a job of iceberg proportions and people do not have the choice but to face it head on. Fortunately, the environmental benefits of organic food are multi-faceted that just by mere patronizing it, people are actually helping mother nature to be well.

Letting us Breathe Better Air

Producing organic food does not require a lot of use of fossil fuel that give a considerable share in polluting the air. It also takes advantage of the green-house effect phenomenon to salvage the soil’s carbon. Scientific studies show that organic agriculture in fact give farmers better harvests. Although there are still experiments being conducted in this area, the early results have been continuously producing promising results.

Cleaner Water for Everyone

It doesn’t have to be explained scientifically how farming organic foods is good for the earth’s water supply. It has been a common knowledge that in commercial farming where goods are mass produced, synthetic pesticides and artificial fertilizers are being used to keep yields meeting the world’s demand.

In organic farming, only natural fertilizers are used and no synthetic pesticides are employed. This is with the belief that food grown the natural way are better, healthier and good for the environment since the odds of polluting the planet’s water supply are nil.

In general, organic farming – just as important as producing better yields to consume – is a huge step towards helping the environment. There are many ways to take part in this revolution; farmers can shift from conventional farming to organic way of doing things while consumers can continue to patronize organic foods that will fuel organic farming to be more than just a small sector of the farming industry. The point is, we can all do something.

Reap the Fruits of the Environmental Benefits of Organic Food

There is nothing more rewarding than being able to say that you played an integral part in the betterment of the environment. For farmers, enjoying the environmental benefits of organic food is synonymous to letting the whole world enjoy a better environment. To do this, a farmer does not need to do a paradigm shift on doing things. Although it may be what needs to be done, a gradual change can also be very helpful.

The initiative can start by diverting your capital from spending on synthetic pesticides and artificial fertilizers to paying for seminars that can enlighten you on how to begin organic farming. It is said that organic farming is really a science in itself but it doesn’t mean that it cannot be learned. In the long run, farmers are actually paying to improve not only their profits but their contribution to the environment as well.

While we’re on the subject of increasing what farmers can earn; there are studies that support the fact that by turning to organic agriculture, farmers are found to cut their production cost by twenty-five percentile. This amount of money is already cash that can be saved or spent on other purposes.

Basically, the environmental benefits of organic food are not limited to the health benefits of the consumers and the welfare of the planet. The farmers themselves are showered with many perks such as better crops produced, higher income and the pride of knowing that they are doing something for the improvement of everyone.

Environmental Benefits of Organic Food – What’s in It For Us?

Environmental Benefits of Organic Foods

It would be a shame if someone asks this question. Whether a person is a fan of organic food or not, the mere fact that organic farming is doing something positive about the place where we all thrive ought to suffice to get any one’s support.

It cannot be denied that the planet is plagued with a lot of problems today and the planet cannot simply catch up. Mother Earth is just one compared to seven billion human beings; if each of the 7 billion inhabitants of the planet will do a little bit of something to make things better, it will be inevitable that we preserve Earth for future generations.

Endless Environmental Benefits of Organic Food

The benefits we get for supporting organic food can be countless if really put our thought into it. It is true that people who consume organic food get to take advantage of perks on a personal level but looking at the big picture, anyone can see that it is more of a chain reaction and it goes on a cycle. Someone who buys organic foods help the farmers who produce them; the farmers then strive to continue organic agriculture which in turn helps the condition of the environment that finally gives man a more suitable and healthy place to thrive. The bottom line is, the environmental benefits of organic food are dynamic and it doesn’t stop on people’s tables.

The Procedure an Organic Freeze Dried Food Undergo

The process of freeze drying – whether or not of organic foods – has been done since the ancient days of Peru, where because of the high altitude of the place and its low temperature environment, their crops’ water content vaporized which incidentally found to be an efficient way of preserving food. This concept, along with the inevitable advancement in human technology, gave birth to modern methods of freeze drying foods the contemporary way.

Although there are quite a number of machines developed to do the freeze drying process, the concept behind the procedure remains the same. Fresh produce – organic foods – are flash frozen that intends to evaporate about 98% of moisture inside the food. Then, once “frozen-dry”, the food items are packed and sealed on moisture and oxygen proof packages where they remain fresh until the pack is opened and food ready to be re-hydrated to its original state.

An Overview as to Why Is Organic Food More Expensive

Why is Organic Food Expensive

People now are slowly starting to realize the hazards of daily living and countless individuals are shifting from their careless ways to more healthy practices. This is very evident with the invention of vehicles that run on alternative fuel or on electricity, to hitting the gym, living and eating healthy. All of these, sad to say, do not come free and more often than not even cost much higher than how things were done before. Let us put our focus on organic foods and why is there such a clamor over it.

Right of the bat, I has to be understood that man is now in a revolution to keep things healthy and this does not spare the food they consume. As the demand goes higher, the law of economics will tell you that the prices will soar as well. The question is, is the price you have to pay worth it? Obviously the answer is yes. The ways these foods are prepared are so efficient that they give a lot of benefits; from lowering the risks of consuming toxic substances, to being friendlier to the environment to downright being just healthier and better taste; people who pay for organic food are willing to spend.

Why is Organic Food More Expensive – A look at What You Pay For

People who make organic food do not put pocket-burning prices on their products just for the heck of it. When you look closely, you may actually start to realize that the price – in the long run – is worth it. Here are just some of the benefits you get for consuming organic foods:

Getting More Nutrients from What You Eat – A lot of scientific studies show that foods that are grown without the aid of pesticides or artificial fertilizers are richer in protein and anti-oxidants that are key elements in promoting a sound health. Livestock that are free from unnecessary antibiotics also show to produce more minerals and vitamins the human needs.

Organic is Helping Mother Nature – There are countless measures being initiated all around the globe to help Mother Nature heal herself and the production of organic food is one of them. Everyone agrees that chemicals are very harmful and by eliminating the use of them to produce food is doing good to the environment.

They Simply Taste Better – Although considered to be the least among the many benefits you get from eating an organic food; this bonus cannot be disregarded especially if you are a foodie who loves to enjoy great flavor.

The list can go on and on but the point is when you really take time and look at all the perks you get from organic foods, it balances the scale and pretty much explain as to why is organic food more expensive.

Other Factors Related as to Why is Organic Food More Expensive

After looking at the whole scenario in an economic and benefits angle, it is time to see the issue in ways that are sometimes obvious but easy to disregard.

Why are Organic Foods More Expensive

People making organic food invest money; and it doesn’t have to take a brain scientist or a rocket genius to know that production costs involving organic food is higher than conventional food preparations. For example, maintaining an organic livestock farm is more demanding than gigantic farms that mass-produce meats. Farmers take on huge amount of costs but cannot compete in producing large quantities of goods like the large companies can. Hence, they would have to compensate for the money spent on producing the goods.

Another interesting point of view that can explain why organic food is more expensive is the fact that conventionally grown foods are actually subsidized. In a nutshell, this only means that the consumers have already paid – through the taxes we pay – for the goods even before it gets into their household.

So you see, the irony is that foods that are found to be good for man cost more than those that are harmful because of reasons that are both inevitable and something that can be changed.

Why is Organic Food More Expensive – Doing Something About the Price

Everybody appreciates a good heath and we live in a world where everyone agrees that there is no other direction to go but to clean up our acts; and producing organic foods is clearly one of many methods that can take us where we want to be. While people cannot really do much about how the economy works, and the benefits might come in handy to get people who spend get through the day, initiatives from higher authorities should also be made. People from the government may help is legislating laws to help farmers in the organic food sector to cut down their costs.

There is simply a lot of creative solutions and there should really be no reason as to why is organic food more expensive when it can be lowered down for the simplest goal of promoting health.

Organic food facts can vary from something that might be considered something almost trivial to unquestionable and scientifically proven facts. However, one cannot be denied; a lot of facts about organic foods are most of the time – if not all of them – are true.

Organic Foods Fact

In the last twenty years, organic food has been catapulted to the fame it is enjoying now and the number of people choosing these types of foods over conventionally prepared ones is growing steadily. Heightened concerns on how foods are prepared and grown are increasing in the middle of an era where health is given a huge importance.

While to some individuals, organic food facts are selling points; to those who reap the benefits of eating organic are solid and actually tangible manifestations on why should more people give organic foods space on their dinner tables.

Organic Food Facts and its Advantages

Factually tasting good – a foodie’s palate can distinguish an impeccable taste from what is mediocre. In the case of organic foods, the taste is so savory that countless testimonies say that they actually taste better than the ones that are conventionally grown and prepared. Full flavors from the food can be expected when a person gives organic food a shot; in fact this can be evidently seen in the increasing number of food shops that sell and serve organic foods.

Factually good for the planet – organic foods that come from organic farming gives its own fair share of saving the planet. In organic farming where using chemicals to grow the crops and the produce is a huge NO, the whole process is actually very environmentally friendly. Less pollution and an improved biodiversity are just two of the countless benefits that are undeniable truths about organic foods.

The Other Side of Organic Food Facts

At the beginning of this material, it was mentioned that most – if not all – of the organic food facts are true, it meant that most of it really are true – including the ones that make organic food sometimes a little bit unpopular.

One truth about organic foods is that it can come quite pricey. The reason for this is that organic farming entails more costs for the farmers since the yield is not mass produced like the large scale farmers have. They also have to put up with high production costs since they do not enjoy subsidies like huge farms do. Another factor to be considered is that a lot of people are now turning to organic foods and the law of economics will tell you that if something is in demand, the price for that commodity will go high.

One trivial fact that can be not too easy in the eyes is that organic food; sometimes have the tendency to appear to be not as “pretty” as their conventional counterparts. They may sometimes display imperfections or two but this is something very minor and can be looked past at considering the other benefits – good ones – you get from them

Organic Food Facts that Not Everybody Know

Organic is not for everyone – before a commodity is labeled to “organic” the farmer that produced it needs to pass strict standards and rules. This can be something that is good for the consumers since these standards guarantee that people actually get what they pay for. The regulations include the prohibition in the use of artificial and synthetic fertilizers which can be a tough one for a farmer looking to guarantee big yields.

Organic Food Fact

Anything can be Organic- Organic farming is not limited to fruits and vegetables because virtually everything can be organically grown; and this includes livestock. To be classified as an organic livestock, the grower should make sure that he only feeds the animals with organic foods. The choices of organic products is as diverse as the people who go for them; there are organic shampoos, cottons, chips, baby food, breakfast cereal, astringent, hair dyes and so on. The list goes on and on and will surely continue to grow as more needs are discovered.

Organic Cost is its Production Price Tag- Organic foods, undeniably is quite expensive; but it has to be remembered that the farmers did not put this prices just for the heck of it. They cost as much because it cost the farmers to produce the goods in an equally high amount. Organic farming requires labor intensive procedures that cost money yet do not guarantee a good harvest; this fact explains why organic food is not as easy on the pocket as a lot of people wish they are.

Organic Food is Slowly Taking Over – ironically, even though organic foods cost considerably higher than the conventionally prepared ones, these organic goodies are slowly inching their ways to mainstream markets. Their presence in supermarkets says that more and more people are now keen to choose them over the mass produced goods.

There are still a lot to learn about organic foods and still many organic food facts to uncover; these are mere examples of how famous they are already that people are really taking interest in knowing more about them.

The Biggest Among Organic Food Facts

Organic foods are good – as explained in many different ways – and are very helpful to man. However, the biggest truth about the whole picture is that not everyone is convinced. There are sectors in the community that dispute the attention organic foods get; they say that there are other ways of eating better aside from consuming organic foods. Some suggest that the promise of organic food isn’t all that and that learning to eat more vegetables, fruits (the ones in season) and grains is the way to go. The bottom line is, no one is being forced to go organic and that it is just a welcome option for people to try out. Whether it is really healthy of not should be left to the people to decide; and that’s paramount in the list of organic food facts.

What Is Organic Food

Organic food is produced with sustainable methods and do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as pesticides and chemical

organic food

fertilizers, and do not contain any genetically modified organisms, they are processed with irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives, and they weren’t treated with hormones. Organic foods use natural methods like composting and rotating cultures to fertilize the soil, and they make sure that the soil is healthy, alive, so that the plant will be too, instead of adding all sorts of minerals to the soil that became dead after all life has been killed by pesticides.

Organic food is not new

Agriculture has been “organic” (even if it wasn’t called so) for as long as there has been agriculture on earth, and food has been organic for as long as there has been food… until some funny humans who wanted more money decided to change everything. It is only in the last century that a large supply of new synthetic chemicals was introduced in the food supply. The organic movement started in the 1940s, in response to the Green Revolution, or the industrialization and centralization of agriculture. But it is important to understand that normal agriculture is organic agriculture. Many farmers, in fear of insects, don’t even want to imagine life without pesticides, while organic farmers don’t have as much trouble with insects, because most pests only compost what is not good for consumption. If a garden is healthy, it won’t have trouble with insects, the same way that if a body has a strong immune system, it won’t allow bacteria to take over. The addition of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, as well as the weird genetically modified organisms is not, has never been, and should never be accepted as a normal, healthy, sustainable way of agriculture or farming, because it is not.

Organic food only is healthy

Organically grown food looks better, tastes better, and is healthier than conventionally grown foods. How can people imagine that substances killing insects won’t do humans any harm? What are humans, if not a certain type of “very big insects”? As a fruit picker who has been working for a few years in both organic and conventional farms and orchards, I assure you that pesticides aren’t suited for humans, nor for insects, nor for the plants, and nor for the environment. They produce nose bleed, make humans cough in minutes when they enter certain fields, provoke asthma, make humans weak and tired because their immune system is fighting hard poison, etc. This is easy to see, but there are also many long-term consequences to exposure to pesticides which are less easy to see, such as infertility, cancer, and different kinds of malfunctions.

Organic foods don’t produce such problems. They are full of vitality, more colorful, more tasteful, firm, they smell what they should smell, and not… nothing, or something else, as many conventional foods do.

Organic plants have nourished humanity and animals for millions of years, without any problem, while conventional agriculture since industrialization has destroyed soils, water, air, and human health, in a few decades only. Why still bother to use conventional agriculture? What is the problem of those humans who don’t trust nature to feed humans with the food they need, when it does so for all other animals, as it did for millions of years? From now on, let’s choose organic food and help the world be healthier!
